April 7 – Ontario is creating more jobs and strengthening the province's economy by continuing to improve our highways, bridges and roads.
The Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada are each contributing more than $69 million toward 43 infrastructure projects across Ontario. The projects will create and preserve up to 1,100 direct and indirect jobs. Work is slated to begin this spring.
The projects include:
- Repairing local roads and bridges within the St. Lawrence Parks region of eastern Ontario.
- Repairing 400-series highways.
- Upgrading smaller highways including those in the New Liskeard and Cochrane areas of northern Ontario.
The infrastructure work will help improve traffic flow and trade. It will also make roads safer for commuters and other drivers.
Investing in Ontario's highways, roads and bridges is an important part of the government's new five-year Open Ontario Plan.
