The 2009 Ontario Budget moves forward with a five-year plan to Open Ontario to new jobs and growth while outlining measures to help eliminate the deficit caused by the global recession.

Bill 21, Retirement Homes Act, 2010

Legislative protections for seniors living in retirement homes.

Bill 24, Franco-Ontarian Day Act, 2010

Proclaims September 25 as the annual Franco-Ontarian Day.

Bill 43, Post-secondary Education Statute Law Amendment Act, 2010

Legislative amendments to the Ontario College of Art and Design Act that allow the Ontario College of Art and Design to add 'University' to its name.

Bill 44, Lowering Energy Costs for Northern Ontarians Act, 2010

Creates a new permanent Northern Ontario Energy Credit that will help eligible low- to middle-income northern residents with their energy costs.

Bill 46, Excellent Care for All Act, 2010

Improves the quality, and the value, of the health care being delivered to Ontarians, putting the patient first. The Act will see the development of new ways to make better use of health care resources, such as reducing avoidable hospital admissions and readmissions, and the unnecessary use of diagnostic equipment.

Bill 50, Members' Integrity Amendment Act, 2010

Updates the code of conduct for members of the Ontario legislature, and increases the transparency and accountability in government.

Bill 158, Accounting Professions Act, 2010

Ensures greater public transparency for the accounting profession while providing their governing bodies with new powers to better protect consumers.

Bill 231, Election Statute Law Amendment Act, 2009

Creates more ways to vote in provincial elections, greater access for persons with disabilities, and stronger election administration.

Bill 235, Energy Consumer Protection Act, 2009

Introduces new rules that ensure Ontarians have the information they need about electricity contracts and bills, as well as the comfort of knowing they can rely on fair business practicesThis legislation will help families make wise and informed energy choices.

Bill 236, Pension Benefits Amendment Act, 2009

Strengthens and modernizes the employment pension system to help pension plans adapt to economic changes while balancing the need for benefit security.

Bill 242, Full Day Early Learning Statute Law Amendment Act, 2010

Mandates that all school boards offer full-day learning for four- and five-year-olds, including integrated extended day programs before and after school. As well, it gives boards the authority and responsibility to set, charge and collect fees for the extended day programs. The program is to be phased in across the province over the next five years.

Bill 65, Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010

Will make it easier for not-for-profit corporations to operate and do business in today’s marketplace while strengthening the economy and creating jobs.

Bill 68, Open for Business Act, 2010

Proposes to replace current environmental approval requirements and amend the Certificate of Approval process to allow greater flexibility and transparency.

Bill 72, Water Opportunities and Water Conservation Act, 2010

Will better enable Ontario to capitalize on the global market for clean water technology, creating jobs and driving water conservation.
