Have You Applied For The Ontario Tuition Grant Yet? During times of restraint, the McGuinty government has remained committed to building the best-educated workforce in the world, attracting more jobs and new investment

The McGuinty government has worked hard to increase test scores, lower class sizes and create over 200,000 new college/university spaces.

During times of restraint, the McGuinty government has remained committed to building the best-educated workforce in the world, attracting more jobs and new investment.

To do this, back in January, we introduced the permanent Ontario Tuition Grant. Ontario students can now apply for the grant for 30 percent off of their tuition. In fact, many students have already received their first installment. University and college degree students received $800, while college diploma and certificate students received $365.

But for those who have not applied yet, time is running out.

The deadline to apply is March 31st. Students who receive support through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) were already automatically considered for the grant, but for those who have not, there is still time.

All you need to get started is your Social Insurance Number, your parent(s)’ Social Insurance Number, and information from Line 150 in their parent(s)’ 2010 Canadian Income Tax Return(s).

Just go online at www.ontario.ca/30off, register for an OSAP Access Number, andf Fill in and submit the online application form. You print the two signature pages — one for the student and one for their parent(s) – and mail or fax them to the Student Financial Assistance Branch of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (which can be easily found on the website). Students are also able to monitor the status of their application online.

Once approved, the cheque will be mailed to you.

But the clock is ticking. With a little less than a month to go before the March 31st deadline, students need to apply now.

The Ontario Tuition Grant is one of the ways that the McGuinty government is ensuring that a postsecondary education remains accessible and affordable for Ontario students.
