Anti-Bullying Bill Blocked by PC Games Hudak PCs continuing to block legislation that protects our kids

(Toronto) – The Hudak PCs are playing games, continuing to block new legislation that protects our kids from bullying, said Liberal MPP Monte Kwinter.

“Instead of rolling up their sleeves to make our schools safer, the Hudak PCs insist on playing games, blocking this extremely important bill,” said Kwinter.

The Hudak PCs are using tactics like ringing the bells, banging on their desks and shutting down debate. They have prevented any legislation from proceeding to a vote in almost a month.

“The PCs have no plan other than to oppose, proving once again that Tim Hudak still isn't up to the job,” said Kwinter. “Protecting our kids is too important for these political games.”

Kwinter warned that if this behaviour continues, the Hudak PCs will also prevent other bills from proceeding that create jobs and support our families:

• The new Family Caregiver Leave bill that will provide up to eight weeks of unpaid leave for employees to care for a sick or injured loved one.

• The new Health Homes Renovation Tax Credit that will create jobs in the home renovation sector.

• The new Southwestern Ontario Development Fund and continuing the Eastern Ontario Development Fund to help companies compete and win in the global economy.

“Ontario Liberals are making the right choices to build a stronger economy that supports Ontario families and their jobs,” said Kwinter. “Now more than ever we need to move forward together with the strong action needed to protect our kids and keep the economy on track.”
